First of all, let us praise God the Benevolent The Merciful for all Blessings given upon us. Secondly, allow me to welcome you all in the opening session of this meeting. I would like also to extend my special welcome to the distinguished experts from abroad who have traveled a long distance to participate and share their experience in this symposium. May I wish you all a nice stay in Indonesia. To the organizing committee may I congratulate for the success to hold an International meeting in this hotel.
On behalf of the Department of Health Republic of Indonesia, I am grateful to be here with the distinguished key experts from the world and the delegates of this important scientific meeting.

Ladies and Gentlemen,

This collaboration meeting is a milestone in our hepatology field marking the initial collaboration between two big countries: China and Indonesia, eye-witnessed by many outstanding experts from USA, Japan, India and ASEAN.
Liver disease is becoming a threat in Asia Pacific Region due to the fact that Indonesia along with China and India are the three top countries having a high prevalence of Hepatitis B.

In Indonesia there are almost 20 million sufferers form Hepatitis Band Hepatitis C.

This is a serious problem we need to encounter and we should hand in hand prevent and treat this medical problem. Therefore I am very supportive and also appreciate the support given by the International experts in this First Collaborative meeting and also encourage the establishment of the Indonesian Liver Care Foundation that will be officially declared soon.
The theme of this meeting is the “THE FIRST CHINA-INDONESIA JOINT INTERNATIONAL SYMPOSIUM on HEPATOBILIAPY MEDICINE and SURGERY” which is suitably relevant to the facts that liver disease has become a major medical problem word wide, especially with escalating trend in Asian countries including Indonesia. The current situation challenges both the clinicians and experts in the diagnostic field to find better solutions and more appropriate methods of how to prevent and to threat liver disease.

Major topics are hepatobiliary medicine and surgery with all clinicians, surgeons, pathologists, radiologists, pediatricians and other specialists from China, Indonesia, Japan, Australia, India and other countries to share their experience and expertise in Hepatobiliary medicine and Surgery.

We are expecting to provide a mixture of comprehensive scientific programs involving current and update development in various fields of liver disease such as: Diagnostic pathology& Clinical issues, Surgical Hepatology, Liver Transplantation, Pediatric Hepatology, new technique on Hepatic imaging, Nutrition for Liver Patients, ect.
We look forward to your full participation in this important China-Indonesia Joint Meeting where the leading experts in the hepatobiliary Medicine and Surgery will gather together to share their expertise and knowledge in the diagnosis and treatment of hepatobiliary medicine and surgery.

The scientific program will cover all suspects related to hepatobiliary medicine and recent development in hepatobiliary surgery.
